途上国のHIV/AIDS感染を止めるには: 公衆衛生学と社会科学の視点

1980 年代に感染が確認され、世界各国で多くの犠牲者を出してきたHIV/AIDS。治療薬開発、一部薬剤の特許放棄、簡便な検査薬開発、国際的な資金援助に後押しされ、さらにはミレニアム開発目標にも指定されて、多くの途上国で予防と治療が進んできました。しかし、2010 年現在、世界では治療開始が望ましい人の47% にしか治療薬が行き届いていません。予防を喚起し、検査を促して効果的に治療するために、希少な資源の使いかたが問われています。
UNAIDS 元事務局長で現ロンドン大学公衆衛生学・熱帯医学大学院学長のピーター・ピオット氏の来日を期に、国内外から公衆衛生学および経済学の研究者を招聘し、現時点での予防と治療の到達点を確認するとともに、フィールド経験と科学的論証に基づく有効な対策を議論します。公衆衛生と社会科学の研究者が、共通の目標に向かって異なる視点から政策改善を提言する貴重な機会です。HIV/AIDS のみならず、途上国の公衆衛生、グローバル・ヘルス、保健と経済開発に関心のある方のご出席をお待ちしています。
